Tea is the most popular beverage consumed all across the globe. As per the Vietnam Export Data, both black tea and green tea; grown in Vietnam are becoming more popular among tea connoisseurs all over the world.
Vietnam shipped 6 tons of tea worth 74,000 USD to Australia in the first half of 2021, showing year-on surges of 62.1% in volume and 85% in value. Average prices of Vietnam tea stand at 12,308 USD per tonne, up 14.1% compared to the same period last year.
According to the Vietnam Import Data, Australia imported a total of 7,400 tonnes of tea valued at 60.3 million USD in H1, up 27.2% in volume and 39% in value against the same period of 2020. Though Vietnam accounts for just 0.08% of Australia’s tea imports, Vietnamese black tea and green tea are becoming more popular there.
Other countries from which Australia imports tea are India, Sri Lanka, Poland, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia. Tea imported from these 5 tea suppliers accounts for 85.9% of Australia’s total tea imports in the first six months of 2021.
Vietnam only supplied a small amount of tea to the Australian market in the first 6 months of 2021. However, Vietnamese tea exported to the Australian market soared high in the first 6 months of this year with an increase of 62.1% in terms of volume and an increase of 85% in terms of value.
Tea leaves are harvested in Tuyen Quang Province of Vietnam. The average price of Vietnamese tea stands at $12,308 per ton up 14.1% compared to the same period last year. Vietnam is one of the largest and oldest tea-producing countries in the world.
The unique taste and best quality of green and black tea of Vietnam followed by health benefits have made it the most favorite beverage among the Australian tea connoisseurs, thus resulting in a surge of Vietnam’s tea exports to Australia.
