Brazil Exports 99 Percent of its Production of Orange Juices
Brazil orange juice exports are at total volume of 1.07 million tons in the 2019/2020 harvest. As per Brazil custom data the citrusBR sales reached US$1.751 billion up by 3% as compared to the US$1.707 billion generated in the previous harvest.
As per Brazil Export Data, Brazilian companies dominate orange juice export market. The orange juice production of Brazil increased to 51.45 USD million in the end of the last year from 36.30 USD million in November of 2021.
The growth is also because of the greater amount of juice in the market. The sector processed more than 325 million boxes, totalling 1.2 million of juice in the year 2019-2020, about 37% more than the previous period.
The Brazil Import Data shows that Europe remains the main destination of Brazilian orange juice exports followed by USA, Japan, and Asian countries. Orange juice is bid business in Brazil. Brazil stole the production of orange juice from Florida.
More than 50 percent of all the orange juices bottled by major companies like Tropicana are supplied by Brazilian company. In the year 2017, the orange juice export market in Brazil was $1.4 billion.
Brazilian orange juice companies used their cash influx to come into the United States and buy out the Florida’s production facilities. Orange juice was synonymous to Florida in the United States. After the series of frosts swept through Florida in the year 1960, devastating orange groves, Brazil met that deficit with its own supply, beginning with frozen concentrate orange juice.
In 2005, citrus greening disease spread all across the globe from China arrived in Miami. It rendered oranges in affected groves inedible, resulting in 5.5% decline in the production over the next decade. In response to this the orange grove of Florida raised OJ prices by nearly decade. In response, Florida orange growers raised orange juice prices by nearly $2 per gallon, causing bottlers to turn to cheaper Brazilian orange juice.
Today, more than 50% of all orange juice bottled by major companies like Tropicana is supplied by a Brazilian company shipped in specialized fruit juice tankers from the Port of Santos in Sao Paula. In the year 2017 the orange juice export market was worth $1.4 billion.
